Performance Analysis of Networked Control System with Unknown Dynamics in the Presence of Random Delays and Packet Losses

ABSTRACT In this paper, the modeling and performance analysis of Networked Control System (NCS) subject to random delays and packet losses are discussed. Stochastic control theory is used for handling the random time delay and packet losses. Stochastic optimal strategy for networked control system (NCS) is obtained with random delays and packet losses when the system matrices are known. A new stochastic suboptimal scheme is proposed for networked control system (NCS) with random delays and packet losses in the presence of unknown system dynamical matrices. The proposed optimal control scheme operates forward-in-time and online in contrast with most offline schemes in the presence of random delays and packet losses. The effectiveness of this proposed algorithm is shown by performing an H-infinite control design for a twoaxis milling machine tool.
